The official registered name of the association, as stated in the current bylaws, is Associação de Proprietários do Aldeamento do Vale de São Gião (Association of Property Owners of the Vale de São Gião Residential Area). However, the association currently operates under the name Associação de Moradores do Aldeamento do Vale de São Gião (Residents' Association of the Vale de São Gião), which better reflects its current purpose.

The formal name change is expected to be proposed and voted on at the next General Assembly.
